Reliable vacuum technology for temperature control

HHV Pumps caters to a wide range of industries, providing vacuum pumps and boosters for applications that make some our everyday products possible. The woodworking industry and vacuum technology go hand in hand. Technologies like oil sealed rotary vane vacuum pumps are essential in powering the variety of applications involved in woodworking processes like holding and lifting, laminating and wood drying.

Enhancing Performance in cooling Systems.

Air Conditioning & Refrigeration systems are usually constructed with several feet of small diameter copper tubing. These small copper tubes also have return bends and metering devices that offer restriction during evacuation. Add to that, service valves have 1/4” male flare ports with only 3/16” orifices. The only way to get more flow through a given orifice is to increase the pressure across that orifice.

The role of vacuum?

A vacuum pump DOES NOT create pressure that increases flow. Rather a vacuum pump creates a void toward which the system pressure flows.

Evacuating the Copper Tubing

Removing the moisture in the copper tubing is very essential because:

Presence of air and condensable vapours increases head pressure in the system, resulting in more power consumption by compressor draws more current

Small quantities of moisture, in combination with halogenated refrigerants can form hydrochloric acid (HCL) and Hydrofluoric acid (HF). These acids, particularly HF are very active and highly corrosive.

The presence of moisture in the tubing will result in formation of ice while in operation due to cold temperature. This will reduce the cooling efficiency. When moisture condenses at the outlet of a capillary in refrigerator or at the expansion valve orifice in an air conditioner, it restricts or completely blocks the flow of the liquid refrigerant to the evaporator, thereby reducing the efficiency.

The chemical reaction due to acid and moisture gets accelerated as temperature rise, affecting the discharge points in the system. Once the valve reed and seat gets damaged, the compressor efficiency gets impaired. The hot gas will begin to leak back to the suction side, raising the surface temperature of compressor, and ultimately failing it completely.

Evacuation Process.

The process of evacuation varies amongst various manufacturers, but whatever your process requires the principle remains the same. The prime aim of using a vacuum pump to evacuate the coils is to.

Avoid corrosions
Avoid inefficient AC units
Avoid blockages in
AC circuit
Avoid formation of active/corrosive acids.
Remove air, moisture and other non-condensable gases in small capacity AC unit.
