Enabling transformer drying and oil filtration processes

The electrical and power industry is the backbone of modern society, a sector that powers everything from tiny televisions to large scale industrial machinery. An important element that ensures the smooth running and efficient performance of transformers is vacuum technology.

How we support?

HHV Pumps designs and supplies vacuum pumps for transformer drying processes. Transformer drying is a critical step that ensures the further efficient performance of a transformer in a plant. Mineral oils and some cellulose materials are commonly used for insulation for high voltage and medium size transformers.

These materials tend to heavily absorbs moisture from the environment during the manufacturing process. To remove the moisture and prevent it from affecting the dielectric properties of the transformer, vacuum technology comes into play to dry it out.

Why choose  HHV Pumps?

Processes we support.

Transformer Oil Filtration & Dehydration Plants.

Transformer oil filtration and dehydration plants are suitable for all types of electrical insulating oils. Filtration systems remove suspended particles down to 1 micron such as rust, dirt, scales, colloidal carbon etc. Vacuum systems remove moisture (emulsified as well as dissolved) down to < 5 – 10 ppm depending on the working vacuum of the plant. Di-electric oils must be kept clean and dry. This is done to achieve optimal di-electric strength and insulating performance inside the transformer.

Vacuum required : < 0.050 mbar

Transformer Drying

Transformer insulation is done using kraft paper which generally has 8-12% moisture. Vacuum drying ovens are used to remove moisture from cellulose /paper component of transformer’s insulations. High Dielectric (Insulation) property of the kraft paper is achieved with help of vacuum drying process. Lesser the moisture in the paper longer will be the life of the transformer.

Vacuum required: < 0.001 to 0.01 mbar
